Would be interesting to > know which is winning so far. Figures released last week, or the week before. Shows stand-alone players are at 100 000 units for HD DVD and 25 000 units for Blu-ray. That's not including the HD DVD driver for Xbox 360, or PlayStation 3. What I generally do is look at the Amazon top 100 list every week or so, I've only ever seen Blu-ray outsell a HD DVD once (that was Casino Royal). The rest of the time HD DVD has been on top. At the moment Planet Earth on HD DVD is a place above the Blu-ray version. Wal-Mart are also in the process of ordering in 2 million cheap HD DVD players. Sales figures aren't enough from either to win the format war outright, but HD DVD has in my opinion got better films, Lord of the Rings, V for Vendetta etc and its got 3 and a half times as many. Hopefully the Wal-Mart stuff will edge HD DVD out, so we won't be stuck with two formats and have to waste money on dual-format players. -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK.
