(light) textures

Here's my first attempt at making (light) textures.
Feedback is appriciated, Flames will be used to warm my hands

I love the third and fourth - very nice! They have just the right balance of colours and are bright enough. I feel #6 and #8 are way too dark.
Which program did you use to make these?

thanks #6 and #8 are really dark, but they look very good avatars with big pictures on it (faces etc.) cuz they don't fill the whole image
And I use psp9 to make them

Ok, I made a really ugly icon with the a texture because I thought you'd like to see something made with one. But yeah, here's my very ugly try:
