Default CS3 thumbnail display in Win XP Explorer?

I thought this would be an FAQ, but couldn't see it answered already.

How can I get Win Explorer to display PS CS3 thumbnails? Or any PS
thumbnails for that matter. Even when I am in Photoshop and wanting to
open an existing image, the file open dialog doesn't even display
image thumbnails

Thanks in advance for any suggestions ...

B

And while on the subject, it would be nice to see the image dimensions
in Explorer too.

install an old version of PS on your comp

or search for and download
psicon.dll
install at your own risk because it changes your registry
(using on 2 comps> no problems until recent win xp update they disappeared
>when I reinstalled it makes thumbs but they are no longer full frame, this

may be because of aicon.dll makes them Illustrator style, if you don't use
Illy don't install it)

For me this is bonehead move for Adobe, an attempt to force you to using
their file browser and eventually the newer Bridge)
of course they blame it on Microsoft
It is very annoying to lose them and shows what Adobe thinks of us PC users
another slight to PC users is that the cursor won't change colors over light
and dark areas (also MS fault)
there is no discount on the Windows versions, it should not be inferior
but it is

if this has changed since CS let me know you guys

I have psicon.dll - where does CS3 want it put?
Otherwise, I have an old version, 7 I think, that I can install.

Thanks for the suggestions.

For CS2 & CS3 you will need to install not only psicon.dll, but also a file
name aiicon.dll along with the necessary registry editing. If you do a
Google search for both of those dlls, you will find quite a few websites
with instructions and links to the necessary dll and reg files.

you need to use the installer unless you also know how to change the
registry key
the psicon.dll goes to program files>common>adobe>shell

from readme
Photoshop CS - Windows Explorer Thumbnail Enable Patch
** This is not an Official Patch, use at your own risk. **
** Follow the Instructions carefully. **

1. Copy psicon.dll to the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\

2. Double-click Install.reg, and merge it into your registry.

3. Celebrate, you're Done!

Thanks, but unfortunately that link leads to a dead page.
If anyone has the zip file, grateful if you could upload it. Otherwise
I'm going to be doing some registry editing ...

Cheers,
B
