| MK PitStop Member | Windows Media decides to tackle the graphic file formats this time and finally comes up with Windows Media Photo. The hype is that one test photographer claimed that it had better compression/quality ratio than what JPEG currently has to offer. This could prove to be a huge change in the digital art world, especially if the web starts adopting the format and the software companies begin to acknowledge its existence. This may also mean that Microsoft will have to work their butts further with whatever security holes WMP might present. | ||

| MK PitStop Member | I can't see WMP becoming widely used on the web, look at png still not used anywhere as much as it should be. If your using photo's on the web jpg is the only format to use, it only looks crap when you take the quality down low, but that's the trade off you make when designing for the web- size versus quality. | ||

| Member Level 2 | though to be honest compression aint as huge as it used to be these days. then main reason for compression of pics on the web is so it loads much faster, but if a new format saves a couple of extra kb's then it wont make much of a difference to modern connections. is it really worth all the hassle when i dont see its really needed | ||
