Increasing Pixel Size

Is it possible to increase pixel size? Are there any such programs available for this? I'm not sure there is. Although there was one crime show where to solve the mystery through a fuzzy video footage, they brought the video to a NASA facility to increase its pixel size. The program they use is that which is employed to clear astronomical images. I don't think my projects are that important.

The moment they ever find something to enlarge pictures without it becomming just a couple of ten feet long pixels I'd be awed

Nope! I meant it like Sulimo said. I guess there really aren't any commercial products of that nature out there. I thought I'd ask anyway, maybe there is something you use to increase picture size without risking losing the resolution.

I think you meant increasing the resolution.

If that were the case, those movies faked it. they're actually BIG photos resized to be smaller and mosaiced so they look like web-quality small pictures. Then they do it the other way around - they film something small (the downsampled one) and then they film it zoomed, then replace it with the big high quality version.


By theory, a pixel is as good as it gets. If there were something to be done to make something pixellated to be bigger and clearer, bilinear resampling does it best (ala Photoshop). But in cases like 100x100 images and you want them blasted big like a billboard, look for God to give you the miracle. (Or the original high-q picture teehee!)

By increasing the pixels of the screeen its resolution is being good and the picture is also visible enough better
