| (*&%^!)$%#, Before installing SP2, I had no problem saving / exporting 200MB+ file to Illy. Now all I get is a 1.65k (blank) file that, when I try to open in Illy CS2, makes Illy disappear..."poof"....closed (no message either). I can open the file in PS CS2 but all there is, is a transparent (checkerboard) blank image. If I try to import into Draw, I get the red-circle-X "File Error" message window. I tried "Save As" and had the same results (tried to save / export as CS2 or Illy 9). I CAN save as / export to CS2 if I select half or less of the image objects (individually, the save / export ok but as a whole image..no dice). If I do a "Select All" and export or Save As Illy CS2, the full file IS saved but with the same results when opening. If I import into Draw....Draw goes "poof" and disappears as well. I can save as a PS CS2 file and open it in PS without a problem.....except for the mutted colours ( image was created as CYMK in Corel). Unfortunantly all layers are lost. Lots'a fun rebuilding ! LIke I said...no problems before SP2 installed. Ted web: http://groups.msn.com/HSMPHOTOSportsPhotography | |||

| I thought so too. That's why I tried all the objects seperatly (all 51 of them). All worked individually. | Ed I have been very busy but I did open the files today and take a quick look. I will right you up a report ans e-mail it too you. First all the files opened for me, the AI file is not correct and without going into too much detail I wouldblame the transparent objects. You placed transparent images into the Draw filea and saved as an AI. Draw and Adobe handle transparency differently. This may take a day or two as I am busy prreparing a seminar for a local college. | Jeff I believe that is the way to do it. With the very few tests I've made with the VersaCamm so far, it seems the best way to stay out of trouble is to convert to bitmaps, when we use transparencies for example. Need more tests to see if there are other ways to go. One thing though; What happens when spot colors are involved, in combination with CMYK (and I'm not talking about pure CMYK-printer printing now of course)? -- /Ronny Axelsson "Jeff Harrison" <test@test.com> skrev i meddelandet news:45d2a390$1_1@cnews... Hi Alfred, FWIW, I work like you... and think that's the best way anyway. I'll never be one to be hung up on trying to send all kinds of complex layers to a PS rip. There's simply no need to cross my fingers hoping it will turn out right. By flattening certain elements, dependable output results and rip speed increase dramatically. The irony is that I feel free to run wild with ALL of Draw's tools, merge modes, fills, etc. this way. I'm not thinking..."Gee, can postscript handle all these crazy layers?" I already know the rip will "freak out" if I send it live. So I don't send it that way. Problem solved! :-þ And for the Adobe fans hanging around, Adobe recommends this flattening workflow whenever possible too! As you can guess this will provide a wide range of final > results, depending on the spot color in the file. I was rather thinking about when outputting repro films for screenprinting, for example, where it is important to keep the spot colors on separate plates. I assume the bitmap routine doesn't work if spots and CMYK are mixed. Correct me if I'm wrong. As long as we're talking pure CMYK output though, it should work. -- /Ronny Axelsson | |||
