Even worse for those of us who have, thank you. There are no good news channels in the US. Fox rises to the top of that cesspool, but CNN and MSN are not far below. The Daily Show is the only reliable TV news out there, sad to say. -- To reply by email, remove the word "space"

Hell dude since the news scares and upsets you so it's simple. Don't watch, don't read a paper, and you can go on in utopia pretending "all is well". No you miss it. You don't like hearing things that you don't want to be true, so you blame the messenger for ruining your day. If you read two papers a day, why do you still feel the need to have the talking heads read it to you? Is there some news that the papers don't cover? Odd thing about the news. It happens whether we are aware of it or not. Lumpy -- In Your Ears for 40 Years www.lumpymusic.com

Read several papers, then watch one news cast after another. It's normally they don't want to hear what's going on, so they are hoping SOMEONE, ANYONE will tell them what they want to hear. I just personally wouldn't want to spend that much time reading/viewing what is surely redundant and essentially useless news. Some people were killed in Iraq. Some S American leader said bush is a poodle. Some senator is calling for a full scale investigation into someone from the opposing party. Is there something more that I would get by spending several hours daily reading another paper or allowing the talking heads into my boob tube? Is there some reason why I need to know that stuff at all? Surely the world will go on without me being aware of each of those shattering events. I scan the news from Reuters via the web. I haven't done that yet this morning. And even if I don't scan it till three days from now, some people will have died in Iraq, some S American guy will call bush a poodle and some senator will call for an investigation. The news doesn't validate my right/left, conserve/lib cubbyhole. I think perhaps THAT is a big reason some people get caught up in worrying about whether or not any particular news source is "fair and balanced". Lumpy -- You were on Leave it to Beaver?
