| I swear the IQ of buyers is going downhill of late. I sold a C64 computer game which ended on £3 and had a £1 P&P charge as stated in the auction so I copied and pasted my standard email to buyers as follows. Hi there , thanks for bidding. Including postage it will be £4 so you can either send me a cheque or pay by bank transfer if you have PC banking. You can also use online payment services if you like , but I would prefer that you used NoChex rather than Paypal as it has much lower fees. My address is Alex Cook <snip> or my bank details are <snip> For NoChex my username is <snip> Hope this is ok , and don't forget to send me your postal address. All straight forward? Clear enough? A few hours later I got back a stroppy email from the buyer as follows "well... paypal fee will only come to to about 16 p which is what they charge for premier accounts 3.4% those that use credit cards ,you cant add the 20p withdrawal fee because that you cant do under ebays listing policy rules ,i will add the 16 pence to amount but remember in future that us buyers could turn round and say i will bid say, £5 and say this includes all fees and vat ,so all sellers who ask for fees would be stuffed.so it works 2 ways ,dont forget ebay take their share as well and now. you have to pay vat when listing ,and when final price is done ,they take more in vat so you are no better off anyway .will send payment soon cheers" WTF? Where did I say anything about extra fees? I ask people to use nochex over paypal if possible as it costs me less but thats about it. I sent back a none too polite email asking him what he was on about. There are plenty to go around it would appear. Quite where the VAT thing came from is a mystery as well. -- Alex "We are now up against live, hostile targets" "So, if Little Red Riding Hood should show up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the bitch! | Its the idiot sellers that wind me up - you know, the ones who charge a quid extra for paypal, then £2 for postage and end up sending your stuff in a recycled jiffy bag, 2nd class post (@ 50p) and wonder why your pissed at them ! -- Rick Kitty5 NewMedia http://Kitty5.com POV-Ray News & Resources http://Povray.co.uk TEL : +44 (01270) 501101 - ICQ : 15776037 PGP Public Key http://pgpkeys.mit.edu:11371/pks/loo...rch=0x231E1CEA | |||

As both a buyer and a seller I tend to take the line that as long as I know what a seller's charges for P&P and Paypal are, then it's my choice whether to bid or not. It's not like they're forcing me to buy from them. nemo | |||

| Thats what we do also, the bidder knows how much he will have to add if his bid is successful. He has the option whether or not to bid. Trouble is people don't bother to read what is in the auction. Heh , the looney has replied "well as i always mostly use paypal to pay for items a lot of sellers want their fees paid for them .you mentioned fees in your email to me and i was trying to be nice by offering to pay the little extra ,i thought you were hinting about the fee on paypal ,so thats why i said what i did ,if you dont want people to use paypal because of fees then remove it as an option then there is no arguments, simple is it not ?you brought up about the fees i did not ,i just pay by what options that are on offer" -- Alex "We are now up against live, hostile targets" "So, if Little Red Riding Hood should show up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the bitch!
