| Everyone knows that banks take a few days to clear funds. What's not generally knows is that this doesn't guarantee payment. For example, if payment is made with a forged cheque, it will be credited to the recipient's account when the banks have established that there are funds in the account; but when the legitimate account-holder finds out, the money may be taken back. Does anybody know if there are any statutory or effective time-limits, and what they are for the various types of transaction (cheque, credit card, PayPal, various international payments, etc.)? Best wishes, -- Michael Salem | |||

Not sure about the others but you're spot on about cheques. I had a cheque bounce over 2 weeks after the funds cleared in my account. Makes a mockery of waiting for cheques to clear IMHO and I never do anymore. Trouble is, knowing that, I tend to get peed off when I send cheques off for stuff and have to wait while the buyer waits for it to 'clear'. -- Best Regards Niel Humphreys Snowdon Computers

AIUI, the cheque can be reclaimed up to SIX MONTHS after it is first presented.

How much and how long for it to arrive at the destination?
