they don't seem to have announced it, but i'm certain they did something...

this morning about 20 items showed up in my 'bidding on list' in US dollars,
and i was unable to see what they were as the hyperlinks said "item not
available"

quite a shock, i can assure you, as it amounted to over a grands worth of
bidding!

several refreshes later they were still here

disappeared an hour or so ago

shocking!

there was maintenance well according to the ebay service announcement page:

I think they have cut down the time for scheduled maintenance, as I recall it used to be longer than
an hour, maybe that's why we are not noticing it on fridays, its being done, but not as long.

Meg Whitman (co-founder) announced a few weeks back that they have stopped
doing the Friday maintenance because it buggers up European Ebay sites.
