| Hi there, I hope someone can help me I have used ebay for a while now and never had a problem, until now. I bought a games console from someone which had this in the description: "System has been tried and tested and works perfectly. In excellent condition." It arrived, after about 8 days, well packaged, but not in a good way at all. After cleaning the item (as it was filthy) I decided to turn it on and have a play. Nothing, not a sausage. I tried again, and again nothing. Eventually it did come on, but then froze and stopped working completely. I tried a different game (not from the same guy) and the same thing happens. I would say 1 in 10 times the machines actually attempts to read the data from the game. It powers up ok, but I usually get a blank screen. (I have tried different power/av leads which I know work ok with the same results) Also the only control pad that was included in the auction does not work correctly (there was no mention of this in the advertisement) Like a wally I left good feedback (as he has well over 500 rating) and assumed that all was ok with the item. I emailed him and advised of the problems and asking him what he though I should do, to which he replied....... "I hope you manage to resolve the faults soon" Like its my problem! It was sent by parcel force and I would assume that it is covered by insurance (as he claims that it was damaged in the post, however this is unlikely as there were no signs of damage on receipt) Any idea as to what I should/can do? Cheers Simon www.retro-review.co.uk | |||

He made a claim, which was not true, you can claim for misrepresentation. get a printout of the original description. Oh, and I'd send a recorded delivery letter first, saying what you plan to do if he does not address the issue within say, seven days. Tell him what you want - full refund, with postage - and take it from there. Ali | |||

| Update: Everything is ok now. I sold the console to a friend of mine who wants to muck about with the case etc. Selling the other items on eBay, and will hopefully get the majority of my money back. I'll buy hardware from people I know from now on. Cheers for all your help Simon www.retro-review.co.uk > > | |||
