Default Leaflet with article on Hermann Göring Division

Leaflet with article on Hermann Göring Division
FRONTPOST Propaganda leaflet to nazi soldiers. ORIGINAL translation in
ENGLISH!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2257511473

RARE , NEAR MINT, WORLD WAR II
ALLIED (US - 5TH ARMY) PROPAGANDA LEAFLET FOR GERMANS IN ITALY

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL "TRANSLATION" IN ENGLISH FOR INTELLIGENCE PURPOSES

THESE TRANSLATIONS ARE MUCH RARER THAN THE GERMAN LANGUAGE LEAFLETS!
AND, OF COURSE, ARE EASIER TO READ FOR MOST OF US!

GET YOURSELF THIS VERY NICE AND *EXTREMELY* RARE US 5th ARMY LEAFLET

These leaflets, in German language, were shelled and airdropped to the
Germans in Italy.
The allied artillerymen and aircrews did not like the idea of dropping paper
to the Germans.
"Why should we supply them with toilet paper - we would better drop them
some High Explosives", was the general thought.
But the higher command had already recognized the importance of the
propaganda war with leaflets.
In order to make the leaflets more acceptable to the artillery men at the
front and to the crews of the aircraft, it was at some point decided that
there should be translations made to inform the men that were supposed to
handle them. So with every big load of artillery propaganda shells and with
every leaflet load for the bomber aircraft, only one or two of these
translations were included for reading by the men. So one of these
translations came on a great many of German language leaflets! So imagine
how rare these are!

This leaflet is from the Italian front. More specific, this comes from a US
91st Infantry Division veteran (Powder River - Let'er Buck). This veteran
was responsible for spreading these to frontline artillery units and to the
higher officers who also got these for general information.

IMPORTANT:
(From a book on the subject of these specific Italian front leaflets).
'The largest leaflet collections in this field exist in Vienna and in
Munich. The latter consists of leaflets and the scrapbook of Klaus Mann, the
son of the famous Nobel prize winner Thomass Mann, who was a PWD officer of
the US 5th Army and produced most of these leaflets. He commited suicide
after the war and his scrap-book and files were given to the Monacensia
archive. The scrap-book prints an introduction on page 1 thus:
"'Headquarters Fifth Army. Psychological Warfare Branch. APO 464 US Army.
The following series is a collection of leaflets, with English translations,
which have been disseminated by shellfire and by artillery observation
planes over enemy troops on the Fifth Army front during the Italian
campaign"
GB Foster, Captain I C. September 9, 1944 '.

Title:
"Frontpost - Ausgabe Süd - Newspaper for German troops "
"No .107 February 13th, 1945"

Some headlines:
'Gestapo loses grip'
Articles on 'Plundered art restored' and the 'FATE OF THE GÖRINGS'.
'British in Cleve'
'Crimea Conference ended'
'Targets in Germany' mentions cities and industries bombed.
