| excellent question... and another scam.. the same one guy is working out of his house in California and has DOZENS of user id's he's selling with.. all selling the same items. If one "company" goes under, he's got plenty more. Incidentally, there are several people trying to sell off their barely used visual-land mp3 players.. and they charge $5.00 shipping.. not $90 Here's 5 of them. They are all the same crook. It seems to me that posing as 5 different companies is a big no-no. He's got more companies that rooms in the house that he's operating out of. Real slick. Also, notice the auctions... the "company" is in CA, yet ALL the auctions are in GBP.. and strangely.. nobody is bidding on them other than the occasional 99cent victem. 99centsauctions (which is a cute name considering all it's auctions are in GBP.. not cents and dollars) http://www.squaretrade.com/dis/jsp/c...sid=muyieymcl3 digitalland http://www.squaretrade.com/dis/jsp/c...sid=mq0ieymgf2 mp3central http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 602&rd=1 mp3land http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 680&rd=1 visualland http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 647&rd=1 On Tue, 10 May 2005 02:00:29 GMT, "G W Shrub" <whois@my.house> wrote: > >"Ragnar" <ragnarsuomi@yahoo.com> wrote in message >news:os9u715a7s5pogqk92cd04ncl33d931hjk@4ax.com.. . > >> Does anybody think that an item won for 99 cents, that comes in an >> envelope with 60 cents postage, should be allowed to charge $90 for >> shipping? The basic rules on ebay are the same as in brick-and-mortar business. Buyer Beware. The people that get sucked into the ebay scams are the same people that would get sucked into any other scam. Blaming ebay for the flaws of humanity is simply a case of being too lazy to truly examine the situation and admit the necessity for personal responsibility. It's just another symptom of the dumbing down of our society. Everyone expects the work to be done for them, the dangers removed for them, the responsibilities taken care of for them. If you use your own brain and actually think about what you're doing, the chances of getting sucked into any scam, ebay or otherwise, is very slim. And once you get sucked into that first one, as most do, you'll never fall for it again, hopefully. However, many do. Those people should not breed. billy | |||

WOW! I didn't even think of that G W Shrub! That guy is cheating EBay out of their fees by charging 96% for the shipping and only 4% for the product!!! I bet THAT will get Ebay's attention. Also, if you notice, the shipping charge varies varies with the value of the item being bid on. That is suspicious since the items are all virtually the same size and weight. By the way, I see that you are right about having to log in to used the URLs above. All 5 of those userids are the same person selling the same products with the same auctions site layout and policies. According to SquareTrade they are: Gary Lu 13208 Rose St. Cerritos, CA 90703 USA If you do a Mapquest on that, it's a house on a tiny residential street. I bet he's operating a business in a residential neighborhood which is also illegal. Years ago, I worked for a man who was operating a business out of his home to avoid city fees, etc. If he has anybody showing up at his house to work, then he is definitely violating the law there also. When someone is a crook, they tend to take advantage of every crooked scheme available to them. The Governator should go take care of that! | |||

| I don't know what E-bay's commision is on sales, but let's assume it is 10%. If a seller sells an item for $90 plus $1 shipping then the commission would be 10% of $90 or $9.00 If a seller sells an item for $1 plus $90 shipping then the commision would be 10% of $1 or 10 cents!!! The seller below is blatantly circumventing fees to e-bay and tricking customers with the $1 winning bids and $90 shipping. Here is the phone number of E-Bay. Write this phone number down! It is VERY difficult to come by: 408-558-7400 - This is Ebay Head quarters Their hours of operation are 9am to 5pm EST Incidentally, the 5 userids below are all the same man working out of his house in Calfornia. 99centsauctions digitalland mp3central mp3land visualland are all Gary Lu 13208 Rose St. Cerritos, CA 90703 USA Phone: (562) 229-1979 http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q...,+Cerritos,+CA click above for map Ask EBAY why they knowingly allow this crook to trick people into bidding on items that they win for 99cent because no one else bids, then they tack on a $90 shipping fee. Two of the 5 user ids the seller uses are squaretrade sealed, yet when I tried using the $29 SquareTrade mediator service, the seller failed to respond! Also, the seller sent me e-mail demaning a 5% surcharge for using PAYPAL.. which is ILLEGAL to do! Even if you aren't involved with this seller, this issue is important. It shows that if you ever have a problem with a seller, you are completely at the seller's mercy. Ebay will not do anything on your behalf other than to suspend your account. I don't know where all the lawyers are out there.. but this is a classic class-action suit against e-bay. Ebay is a haven for criminals. >excellent question... and another scam.. the same one guy is working >out of his house in California and has DOZENS of user id's he's >selling with.. all selling the same items. | Ebay auctions generate an average of 1,000 complaints to the Federal Trade Commision per MONTH in just the state of California !!! 11,942 per year! No wonder that Ebay doesn't give a damn about my complaint. They don't seem to give a damn about anything - yet. http://www.consumer.gov/sentinel/200...california.pdf Imagine this... just how many people go to the trouble of filing a complaint with the FTC? Maybe 1% of those with a complaint? I know I'm too lazy to go through filing a complaint. >> >>"Ragnar" <ragnarsuomi@yahoo.com> wrote in message >>news:8s9081tebpuhehdob9rtscn1s9ieckclnn@4ax.com. .. >> >>> mp3central >>> >>http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 602&rd=1 >>> >>> mp3land >>> >>http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 680&rd=1 >>> >>> visualland >>> >>http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 647&rd=1 >> >>The ST references don't work, since you have to be logged in as that user to >>view them. | If Al Capone were alive today... he would be using E-bay to conduct his racket. Actually... that's kind of an insult to Al Capone! He never ripped of the general public the way many of the Ebay Sellers are. Al's naughtiness amounted to killing off his competitors and not bribing enough of the corrupt government officials. Bill Gates doesn't have enough money to bribe all the corrupt government officials and cops. http://www.consumer.gov/sentinel/200...california.pdf >> >>"Ragnar" <ragnarsuomi@yahoo.com> wrote in message >>news:8s9081tebpuhehdob9rtscn1s9ieckclnn@4ax.com. .. >> >>> mp3central >>> >>http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 602&rd=1 >>> >>> mp3land >>> >>http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 680&rd=1 >>> >>> visualland >>> >>http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3081 647&rd=1 >> >>The ST references don't work, since you have to be logged in as that user to >>view them.
