Default A career in the gaming industry

Hi folks
I just wanted to know what career path one must follow to end up in the
gaming industry. I'm an avid gamer (Quake 3 especially) and would like
to know if there's anyone out there in the gaming industry, and what
the job's like.

small projects, a good way to learn more and get your name out there.

i'm a c++ programmer (using vc++6 right now with opengl) interested in

Meet online you mean ? I am in Australia, BTW. Sorry, but i have
limited net access and have recently lost my job which gave me daily
access, so no instant messenger or ICQ, etc.

Newsgroups are the easiest way for me to communicate. A while ago I was
hoping thinking to create a private newsgroup to share development
ideas, I will consider starting a private google group if a few people
are interested.

I have a small windows/opengl demo zipped and ready to go right now, if
anyone's interested, please inform me of youe email address. The
attachment is small, 34k.

It's my first effort with 3d first person and also with windows /
opengl and written from scratch pretty much from guesswork so it's not
the greatest 3d engine on the block, but it'll give you an idea
hopefully of what i am trying to make. It could really use some
environmental sounds btw !!
