Default Problem: HP Scanjet 5pe

I have an HP5pe scanner installed on a W2K system using an LSIU40SE
scsi card. The scanner ID is 2. I have installed the HP driver files
sj167en.exe. The install goes fine. After the install the scanner
works fine under the HP utilities and Paperport9. When I look in the
device manager the scanner is listed.

Problem occurs after the system is shutdown and restarted. After a
restart the scanner no longer shows in the device manager and must be
reinstalled as though a new device.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem.

Please post suggestions.

TIA
