| I thought I'd share some of the problems I've had using some commercial web sites with Opera 3.50: 1. Cyberian Outpost: www.outpost.com Problem: Select an item (any item) and then click the "Buy It" link. Outpost complains that "Your shopping cart is empty!". Maybe there's some problem with how a cookie is getting stored? 2. Microsoft Expedia: www.expedia.com Problem: From the main page, type some flight info into the Fare Finder form, and click Go. Opera displays a dialog with unknown filetype "multipart/x-mixed-replace". If you click Use Opera, Opera will display the source code instead of the rendered page. Apparently Opera simply hasn't a clue what to do with documents of this MIME type. 3. Fidelity Web Xpress: https://webxpress.fidelity.com (customers only) Problem: From the Login page, enter your SSN and PIN and click Login. Instead of continuing to the main page, Opera redisplays the Login page. In order to force Opera to display the main page, you must then manually enter the URL "https://webxpress.fidelity.com". Perhaps there's a problem with the HTTP Redirect option? It's problems like these that keep Opera from becoming viable for day-to-day use. I hope some fixes or workarounds are in the works. --Ed -- Ed Swierk eswierk@cs.stanford.edu | |||

The puzzling thing is that there were fewer problems before this version. <snip> > It's problems like these that keep Opera from becoming viable for day-to-day > use. I hope some fixes or workarounds are in the works. I guess that depends on what your day-to-day use consists of mostly, but O definitely has problems with these kind of pages. I generally use Netscape for them. -- Ford | |||
