Default BHOs?

How do you know which BHO is safe? I recently deleted a BHO identified by Hijackthis. As it turns out, the BHO is identified by Spybot as related to McAfee, which I have replaced with Norton several months ago. I suppose that was a safe BHO.

But another one, 4da4616d-7e6e-4fd9-a2d5-b6c535733e22, is persistent. I couldn't delete it via Spybot, that is, after I remove it, it reinstalls itself. I believe it is a remnant of the SpywareQuake trojan that I got about February or March. It is a homepage hijacker, but it doesn't seem to work anymore without the rest of the components.

BHO, these are files that are just dll files used for internet explorer, BHO can be good and bad develipers use them with some progams to contrall internet explorer, also tool bars use them like Alexa tool bar they use two that get classes as spyware by spyware programs, but these are only used to gain infomation for Alexa so that they can see what webpages or websites you visit.

So BHO's can be good and bad most of the time they are good but like you say they can be used in very bad ways without you even knowing like collecting infomation that you maybe type in your internet explorer browser.

so can you remove the one you ask?

Well here is a link for you to have a link at it contains a full list of the good and the bad of BHO

http://www.spywaredata.com/spyware/s.../1/results.php

Hope this helps

Thanks for the link.

I searched for the second BHO using the search tab and it pulled up a long list of *.tmp threats. How I recognize a few from the scans I ran with Norton! However, I still can't delete it.
