| MK PitStop Member | I have a new drive with everything I need installed on it. However, I was wondering if I should or could partition it. I am not sure of the advantages or disadvantages of partitioning, could someone advise? Thank you. | ||

| Member Level 2 | I partition because I use windows and linux on same machines. I always make first partition for windows then second for linux swap(memory) and third for linux distribution. If I would only use one operating system I would not partition hard disks since it kind of slows down a computer and I don't need any need for partitions since you can arrange disk with folders .... | ||

| MK PitStop Member | Hi Beekeeper Thank you for your reply. Slows down ones computer - not good! I have only just managed to get my computer running up to speed (not that it is very fast or anything) :-) so the last thing I want is to slow it down again. I have been considering using another operating system along side Windows and Linux is one that I have read a lot about in the forum and was seriously considering using. How much space have you allotted to Windows and Linux respectively please? Thank again. | ||
