Default How Long ?

Hi,

I'm after some advice, hope you can help.

Is there an un-written rule has to how long you should be gaming for at any one given time ?

Does prolonged use (5-12hrs constant/daily) effect the integrity of the graphics card?

Are they designed to run for this long whilst gaming?

Running a Geforce 7800.

This as become abit of a debate between friends.

Hope you can throw some light on this little issue.

Thanks in advance

Chris.

My basic gaming rule is: As long as it works, it works.
and of course if you've got enough cooling i doubt you've got alot to fear, but someone else might be able to give some more professional advice

If you are running the system at a safe and cool temp then you should be ok, also if you have overclacked your system then the same goes for that aswell I am not really much of a gamer yet my self so I could have mist something but I dont think I have

With the important coooling area covered, from a techincal side proglonged use will not have any adverse affect on the system how ever for arguements sake the long the use the better. Why.
1) switching on and off is not good for electrical compontents due to the burst of electricity when switch on, so u could agree turn the system on and off all the time will have a bad effect.
2)If it is a good game play the hell out of it

Yes I agree with the turning on and off of the system I leave mine on 24 hours a day every day, also good thing about this I can run my virus scan every night when I am a sleep, like 5 in the morning

Which will I ruin if I turn it on and off several times in a day, the video card or the motherboard? That is what I do to conserve electricity. When I leave off for an extended period, say 15-30 minutes, I just hit the Sleep button to put it in hibernate mode.

It really will not kill your system as there are 1000's of people that do it, its like this though, every time you turn your system off your fans go off then your CPU etc etc have to cool down on there own, also you can risk loosing some files when turning your system off.

It really doesnt matter to much though
