| Junior Member | My uncle just gave me his old computer, which, in most respects, is better than the one I had. A major bummer is the fact that I don't have much control over the monitor adjustments anymore. On the old computer, which has an i810 chipset with an Intel 810L graphics controller, I could go to the Advanced button in Display Properties and have slider adjusters for contrast, brightness, gamma and RGB balance. And the adjustment latitude was ten times what the buttons on the front of the monitor gave. Now, all I have is the range of adjustment provided by the monitor buttons which is not nearly adequate. The brightness range that I have now -- even with all controls maxed-out -- sets the black point so high that most of the brightness/contrast test strips I find puts about the left third of the strip at dead black I’ve done about all that I can with what I have – the monitor and graphics controller drivers are the latest available. Intel has stopped support for the graphics controller, so, no help from them. The problem computer is running WinXP Home. The graphics controller is an Intel 82815 with an i815/E/EP chipset. Can any of you suggest how I might be able to at least get brightness/contrast computer-based adjustments with this set up? Third-party software, maybe? Or, do you think that I need to get a video card to regain the lost range of control? If so, any recommendations? I don't need one of those gaming cards, just something that will give me back monitor adjustment control. Any help is appreciated! Grant | ||

| MK Moderator ![]() | yes mad kad is right, if its an intel board, go to their site and download the driver for the chipset nvidia or intel graphics, you could find those on the manufacturers web site and just get the drivers | ||
