Default Serial ATA Hard Drive

I have an Intel D845PEBT2 mb and running Win XP Pro. I went out and bought a
WD serial ATA 120 gig today. I plugged it in but Windows doesn't recognize
the drive. The guy at the computer show said I have to format it but how can
I if I can't locate it. It's not going to be the boot drive just an extra
drive. I've enabled the serial ATA in my BIOS. Is there anything else
special I have to do to get this drive to work? Thanks.

Default Serial ATA Hard Drive

OK I ws able to install it. The power connector I connected to the drive
wasn't delivering any power! However during my search for the problem I
installed some drivers for the Raid Controller. I'm under the impression
that the Raid Controller has something to do with the W.D. serial ATA hard
drive. Or does it? I'm not too knowledgable in the department of raid
controllers. Can someone shed some light on how the 2 have something to do
with each other or are they completely different from each other and have
nothing to do at all with each other. And do I need this Raid Controller in
order to run this serial hd.
