Default 512 Mb/ 1Gb RAM difference?

Is there any considerable difference between using 512Mb or 1Gb of RAM. I mean when this can be seen? If I only use PC or notebook for internet, writing, website running and some basic graphic design - will I ever notice if I add additional 512Mb?

You might notice some difference but not loads, the only time you will see a really big difference is with gaming as it helps alot with lagging.

I agree with MK. If you are not doing anything loaded, then 512MB and 1GB wouldn't make visible differences. If you are running Vista, then it might.

When you upgrade and fix also a 512 mb ram so it might help your pc speed and your pc can let more load there are many other features espaccilly if you are running windows vista .

while adding memory will obviously increase performance, it would not be the first thing recommended for what your speaking of, if i were looking to run a game on the "max" settings or stream high res video, memory is just not the first thing i would start with... you also speak of running alot of programs simultaneously, also known as multitasking... again, memory not really gonna be the first thing on a technicians list if a user is exhibiting a "hanging" computer under heavy load or multiple threads

the first thing i would start with upgrading under both of the situations you presented above would be the processor... 99% of the time if the user is running a system with 512MB of RAM they're prolly not gonna have the latest and greatest chip out there, so i would recommend upgrading that first, a simple push from a 1.8GHz P4 400 FSB and 256KB L2 cache to a 2GHz AMD Athlon 64 2000MHz FSB and 512KB L2 cache would make more difference than leaving the sample P4 and upping the system memory to 4GB, and there are benchmarks that will show this

video card is the second thing i would upgrade to increase performance when it comes to games, video and such

memory will definitely help you but its not always the best upgrade is all
