Default heatsink

ok i just recently upgraded my heatsink, but the newer one runs hotter than my older one, even thou it is better from 46C idle to 50C idle
i upgraded fro a whisper rock heatsink to the same type but with a copper core
im using the same thermal compound im thinking that the fan runs slower on the new one, what do you guys think

hmm to me 46C idle any how is a little high

You should be able to check the fan speeds in your bios it could be running slower but i would check that first also are you overclocking

the copper conducts better with the heat so really shouldnt make much difference, but it would depend on the air flow

Yeah, did you happen to remove any other ventilation devices along with the replacement?

Do note that the system fans still play a heavy part on the cpu ventilation. Also, system ventilation requires a good airflow (like Madkad mentioned), so it should either absorb air from the front and vent it out to the rear (kinda like the human way ), or absorb air from the rear and vent it out at the front.

You did not show what was the temperature of the ancient heatsink.

The aluminium and better heatsink what other metal. Make a regression...
