Default Dead ....

After changing a setting in my 8RDA3+ BIOS, I rebooted to get a pre-boot
message about BIOS flashing - which stayed on-screen until I press reset,
whence it refused even to redisplay the message (fans, etc powered fine).
Tried soft and hard CMOS reset and battery removal - to no avail.
Think the BIOS chip's croaked - so I've ordered another from Epox.
I was wondering whether an excessively hot Southbridge might have corrupted
it.
I'm going to actively cool my SB now, anyway - but it's certainly aroused my
suspicions.
Also, anybody know where I can get a BIOS removal tool in the UK - or is a
screwdriver sufficient ?

Cheers

If you do it with a screwdriver, you'll probably bend about 4 pins on the
end opposite the screwdriver. A chip removal tool will help, but if you
don't want the chip...

RS or farnell are an ideal place to get that sort of stuff from.

I was trying to think of Maplin when I wrote those two down! Somewhere
local is always good.

I didn't keep it, but from what I recal FD54J.
You don't need one to remove an Epox RDA BIOS chip - just a small
screwdriver.
