| I've just swapped out my trusty old PIII setup for an Athlon 2700 XP, running on an Asus A7V8X-X board (http://www.asus.com/products/mb/sock...x/overview.htm) with 2 x 512Mb PC3200. What's the optimum speed I can get out of it? (rather than the 2167 the board states). I don't really want to burn the chip out in a matter of days/weeks - but I would like something a little higher than 2.17GHz. ;-) Thanks for any help. H. | |||

Raise the multiplier. Default is 13. You may have to raise vcore some too. But I doubt that you will be able to get a noticable amount out of it. | What stepping is your CPU? the 2500+ have been hitting 2.4GHz so I'd aim for that 12x200... you have good ram. What HSF did you get? | HSF is an Evercool copper jobbie. (CUD-725) It's in a server spec case (IN Win Q2000) with a 550W PSU. 3 front fans, 3 rear fans, plus a couple inside (8cm @25000rpm). 1G of RAM is Kingston DDR400. Just looking for "optimum" performance. ;-) H. | Hey H, your CUD-725 looks like a baby SLK800. "H" <spam@abuse.net> wrote in message news:bde83j$s086m$1@ID-127732.news.dfncis.de... > HSF is an Evercool copper jobbie. | Where the hell did the extra "0" come from? Oops - 2500 rpm. Have got a 12cm fan though that when powered from the PSU almost "hovers" when placed face down. It's from an old redundant fan kit from a Compaq server. H. | Very similar to the Thermalite option. Smaller fan with no overhang though. H.
