Default Is the athlon xp 2000+ locked?

Hi all;

Sorry if I am just not understanding things. I am trying to overclock
an athlon xp 2000+ on msi k7t turbo2 ms6330 v5, with bios 3.6.

With the default bios settings SiSoftware Sandra 2002.6.8.97 says;

the speed is 1.66GHz. All I want is a system running a bit faster, say
1.7/1.8.

I have tried changing the fsb, the vcore and even the multiplier. But
the software keeps telling me its running at 1.6GHz.

2 x 512MB 16x(32Mx8) SDRAM PC133U-333-542 (CL3 upto 133MHz)
1 x LEGEND Performance Tech EC37P603 128MB 8x(16Mx8) SDRAM
PC133U-333-542 (CL3 upto 133MHz) (CL2 upto 100MHz)

Could the memory be the reson why I can get it to overclock...?
