| I too am having problems with D-Link DBT-120 USB dongle on a Dell C400 laptop running WinXP(SP1) and my brand new Nokie 3650. After two weeks and hours on the phone with both D-Link, they said it was a Nokia "chip" problem, and Nokia, they of course said it was not their problem, I returned the D-Link and order a Belkin, sounds from other posts like I should have just given up, Bluetooth USB dongle per Nokia support. They said I had gotten the farthest they'd even seen in getting a D-Link Bluetooth device to work. But they told me "I can get you working with a Belkin Bluetooth device in 2 minutes". I guess I'll see as the new Belkin device should be here today... Regards, Dave... | |||

| I keep reading this kind of reports about problems with Nokia and other Bluetooth products. I use my Nokia 3650 with TDK, Belkin and Bluetake dongles with no problem. -- Mauricio Freitas Handhelds, mobile: http://www.geekzone.co.nz or http://www.bluetoothguide.com Bluetooth guides: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=449 "Dave Rupp" <drupp@ti.com> wrote in message news:bfotf8$5re$1@home.itg.ti.com... > I too am having problems with D-Link DBT-120 USB dongle on a Dell C400 laptop > running WinXP(SP1) and my brand new Nokie 3650. But it's not a smooth process. What I have to do to connect is to go to the "my blutooth places" and click on the serial port connection. At this point, I get a message on my phone saying "accept connection?" and hit yes; I also get a message on my computer which says - inaccurately - that it using the COM0 port; then a second message saying that the connection did not go through. At this point, however, the phone actually _is_ connected to the computer and I can transfer files and stuff. I, too, had a frustrating discussion with Nokia, and told them that they shouldn't pass the buck like that. I do think that there is a problem with D-Link, but I also think that if Nokia only works with _certain_ BT products or protocols, then that should be clear from the start. | |||

It seems like Nokia implemented a very rudimentary BT COM server on the phone, only to wake up perhaps or with limited functionality. I have it working with TDK, Bluetake and Belkin. -- Mauricio Freitas Handhelds, mobile: http://www.geekzone.co.nz or http://www.bluetoothguide.com Bluetooth guides: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=449

(It should be port COM5, not 0, and I'm not even sure that there is a port 0). I tried to download your guide earlier today, but couldn't get through to the webpage. Basically, my BT connection is working, but I'm not convinced that it's going to keep working. thanks -ncs

When you tried Geekzone yesterday, did you get a "Maintenance" page? I spent 15 minutes doing a full database backup and a structure maintenance (field changes)... During this time the site was offline. -- Mauricio Freitas Handhelds, mobile: http://www.geekzone.co.nz or http://www.bluetoothguide.com Bluetooth guides: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=449
