| Thanks for all your responses so far.... We've done a little more homework, and have definitely decided that we want to use Verizon. We also still have our hearts set on getting a Bluetooth headset. However, as far as we know, Verizon isn't currently offering a Bluetooth-enabled phone with any of its plans. All we want is a basic, reliable phone, not a lot of unnecessary bells & whistles. Since the *only* Bluetooth application we really want is for the headset, is there any distinct advantage to getting a Bluetooth-enabled phone, or is getting a non-Bluetooth phone and purchasing a headset w/ adapter good enough? For example, we could simply get one of Verizon's cheapest offerings (Kyocera 2325/Motorola V120e) and spend the money saved on getting the Bluetooth headset. But if we go outside of Verizon's offerings to buy a Bluetooth phone, our cost would go up significantly, no? Or does having on-board Bluetooth instead of using an adapter justify the added expense? | |||

| It depends on what you want and how you intend to use it. I have a SE Bluetooth phone and using the headset is great since you don't have to deal with all those wires dangling off your ear. I actually got a Plantronics M1500 which came with an adapter that will fit other phones that do not have Bluetooth. The down side to the adapter is that 1) it adds bulk to the overall "package" that you have to carry and 2) also has rechargeable batteries so that's another device you have to deal with. If you're going to be carrying the phone with you daily the extra adapter may be an issue. It is rather small and does come with a belt holster but since it attaches with a plug in cable it makes it a bit hard to quickly use the phone without the headset. I don't know what Verizon is charging but ATT wireless was only charging $49 for the Sony-Ericsson T68i which is, IMHO, a nice phone. Good luck TC "Midas Gold" <midasgold@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:28a87a0d.0306220532.78099906@posting.google.c om... > Thanks for all your responses so far.... > > We've done a little more homework, and have definitely decided that we > want to use Verizon. | 'Nuther question.... In searching for a Bluetooth Headset for non-Bluetooth cellphones, I've come across two models so far: Jabra Freespeak BT200 Plantronics M1500 Does anyone have either model? Is there any reason to choose one over the other? Any other models I'm overlooking? Where can I find the best prices? Thanks! | |||

| I have the M1500. It's not bad and can be used with a BT phone if you get one later on. There is a small adapter that plugs into the phone headset jack so that you can communicate with the phone via the BT headset. The down side is having to carry the extra adapter. You should take a look at it tho. You may or may not like the design of the ear piece. This seems to be something of a personal preference. | I have to agree with Tony's opinion. I currently have a T68 and I'm pretty happy with the performance and I do some pretty demanding things with it. I have it mated with a Palm Tungsten/T and I can send/receive email and browse the web using HTTP or WAP on the Palm with Bluetooth in the middle. | I got the Jabra BT200 Non-Bluetooth phone headset from verizon wireless store (it was cheaper). Jabra says you can convert over to Nokia model to use the handfree profile. One feature of the non-bluetooth phone headset is you can connect it to cordless or wireline phone with 2.5mm port. I can walk around my home without carrying the phone. My cordless phone does not allow answer/hangup feature of the BT200. One annoying thing about most headset is if you have a lot of noise (wind), it makes hard for the calling party to hear you (even on noise canceling models). Jabra was nice enough send couple "windscreen" covers to cover the microphone. Most of the other smaller bluetooth headsets do not allow for windscreen covers. As result of using the windscreen cover, most people cannot tell I am using a headset. I do wish this adapter had a mute feature but I use the phone's mute option. Also, I wanted a universal headset so I could use it with the following devices: 1) Non-bluetooth phones (cordless, wireline and wireless) 2) Bluetooth devices (laptop, wireless phones). My model will with many devices after pairing the headset. 3) PDA models. The Tungsten C uses Nokia 2.5mm jacks so you have to get Jabra BT200 non-bluetooth nokia adapter. Hopes this helps. -Kevin midasgold@earthlink.net (Midas Gold) wrote in message news:<28a87a0d.0306220532.78099906@posting.google. com>... > Thanks for all your responses so far.... > > We've done a little more homework, and have definitely decided that we > want to use Verizon.
