| MK PitStop Member | What is the best GPS software out there that works fast and isnt a big program, there are lots of reviews on GPS software out there on the internet, but most of them that I have looked into seem to be big programs and if I was going to use a GPS software on my car computer I would like it to be as much of a small GPS software program going as pos. Can any one give there thoughts on GPS software that is on the market now? | ||

| Member Level 2 | There are a few out there but not all are suitable for a CarPc enviroment. If you plan on using a frontend i'd advise you to first see whats supported under that software. I use RoadRunner and it supports a few,the most popular being Destinator3.This is Gps software designed for pocket pc's and as such is not rich graphic wise but is very accomplished software. As D3 is meant for PPC's it requires a program designed for windows (MapMonkey or FreeDrive)thats capable of reading the Map Data and Displaying the D3 Interface. The biggest thing of note about D3 is MAPS-THE NEWER THE BETTER-the older maps are notorious for handling roundabouts very badly but things have improved in recent maps. Size wise My D3 with the UK + Ireland map and MapMonkey totals 208Mb Other Gps Programs supported under RoadRunner include: I-Guidence Microsoft Streets and Trips + Others I have no experience of these apps but there are plenty who do. | ||

| Junior Member | Any one know about Best auto GPS overall? The Garmin nüvi 760 gets more top ratings in reviews than any other auto GPS unit. Although it doesn't have the very latest high-tech feature -- voice-command operation experts say it navigates expertly, with multi-destination route plotting and text to speech capability. A "Where am I" feature tells you the closest intersection, gas station or hospital. ---------------------------------- jillcatrina Social Advertise | ||
