| Member Level 2 | I was watching a show the other day and found out that they are starting to put GPS in cell phones. I thought this was a terrific idea, especially for someone like me that gets lost easily. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it? | ||

| MK PitStop Member | There are many entusiastic travelers from my country who like to go through Africa with a bycicle or motorbike or van...One woman went around a world alone with a motorbike - she was 5 years on the road...Another one is on that Paris -Dakar raily every year. All these guys carry laptops with them and use GPS. A popular mobile phone with GPS was Motorola 925a. GPS works great they all say, problem can be maps. You have to load a good map of the teritory oterwise a GPS is useless. So: some links to good GPS maps will be appreciate here. | ||

| Member Level 1 | Even with an outdated map, a good GPS system will be useful. You can still see if you have the right direction and how far you have left to go. (My old system couldn't display maps and play music CDs ... so very often i would listen to music and just get the limited infos ... still good enough for much of the time.) Cellphones: Depends on the type of phone you use. I use tomtom on a PDA phone and that's just brilliant; but I guess I wouldn't want to bother with a regular phone and a mini screen, really. I like seeing the map ... | ||
