Default CD Changer installation in Zafira - in the boot?

Hi all,

I have just become the proud owner of my wife's Zafira, into which I would
like to install the Sony HUD and 10-CD changer from my old car.

The HUD is no problem, I can figure out the wiring and as far as I can tell
there is choice of two steering control adapters, depending on whether I
want to include the remote display or not.

The problem is where to locate the changer!
A 10 CD changer (Sony) will just fit under the passenger seat, but only
facing backwards, where it will get kicked. (The car has the tray fitted,
and I am hanged if I can see how to remove it)
The changer will fit very nicely into the arm-rest/cup holder location in
the boot on the passenger side, crucially without fouling the seats or
sitting proud of the shelf at all, but running the wires will then be
awkward as I will need to drill into the plastic to run the cable through
there, before coming out somewhere under the carpet and going to the dash.

Has *anyone* ever done this before? I've read lots of posts on why Vauxhall
don't fit a CD changer, but none by anyone who has. Not even my contact at
Toad has done one.

Please advise!

Thanks in advance,

Richard R
