| I've just replaced my older Sony head-unit because every time i turned the volume up beyond 50% the sound cut out (even though everything else seemed to continue functioning - the display continues to count the track / time etc.) - the only remedy was to power off and back on again. I figured it was just getting old, so ripped it out and got a new one. Unforunately the new head-unit (4X50W) seems to be suffering from the same problem - it plays ok for about 5 mins and will go very loud, then, once it's warmed up to it's normal operating temp (which seems to be a similar temperature to the surface of the sun! so hot in fact that you can't touch the heat sink without being badly burned - is this normal?), the cutting-out starts again, but at a much lower volume than the older unit. again, the display continues to display that nothing is wrong, and contunues counting as normal, there is simply is no sound. I tried increasing the thickness and the source of the +positive feed wire (thinking it wasn't getting enough current), but with no success. any further suggestions greatfully appreciated. | |||

I suspect you have a short on one of the speaker cables.
