Default Citroen C3 stereo

Hi

I have a Citroen C3, which came with a Clarion RD3-01 (PU-2471A(E))
CD-radio. I already had a Sony CDX-MP30 from my old car, which I would
like to put in the C3.

I've tried fitting it, and it does connect up OK, and plays fine, but
it seems to confuse other things on the car - specifically the car
alarm doesn't work properly (won't turn off with remote, etc).
Replacing the original Clarion stereo makes the alarm work OK again.

Is there something I could do to make it work properly? I've asked my
Citroen dealer and they say they can't do it, but I'm hoping someone
knows better.

Alternatively, what's the best way to add an AUX input (feeding in
from a personal MP3 player, say)? FM modulator, or something like
that?

Pete

When I changed the stereo in my xsara2, strange things happened also -
computer did not know when doors were open for instance. My dealer knew
exactly what to do - access the cars ecu and tell it oem stereo has been
removed - then it all worked ok. However in the end I put the oem back and
upgraded the speakers instead - much better result!

I've heard similar things, Indeed deprogram the OEM radio from the ECU.

Personnally, I don't have any problems, I have a Xsara2 (2003) and replaced
the Clarion with a Sony CDX-M850MP without reprogramming...
I bought a connects2 (http://www.connects2.co.uk) unit to keep using the
display and steering wheel remote controls but it doesn't work like it
should, because my car is too new...

My dealer already tried telling it the oem stereo had gone, but got
the same result as me, which makes me wonder if they may not have done
it right. I asked another dealer, and they said they it wouldn't work.

It seems incredible to me that it's not possible, but maybe that's
showing my ignorance!

If it really is impossible, any suggestions how I could get input from
another source (e.g. MP3 personal stereo)?

Thanks,

Pete

I fitted an Alpine unit to my wife's C3 LX. Only thing that doesn't work is
the frequency display, everything else such as clock, door open left/right
etc etc still OK. Perhaps because it's a 2002 LX and not SX or higher makes
a difference. Also the remote control stalks are all operational using the
Alpine interface box.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a minute or two.
I put a pioneer stereo in mine the car door open displays were sticking on
until I did that.
I also had the problem of the radio staying on for 30 seconds after the car
was locked and coming on when unlocking the car, so I connected accessory
connection from the stereo to the cigarette lighter and it went off with the
ignition then.

Alright, I used brute force and got the panels of. Now there is anothe
problem:

The wires, which are present and have the same colors as on the cabl
connecting to the head unit, do not work: There is no connectio
between the end in the door and the end on the radio.

Somewhere along the wire, it is disconnected. Where is this place, an
how do I connect them
