| my second 360 has now got the 3 red lights flashing, and i called micro$oft to ask for a replacment, but the bastards want to charge me £85 for it!! I am severly pissed off, as I got one since launch that went wrong, got it replaced and now the replacement has gone wrong, but theyre saying it's out of it's guarnatee period, as apparently the new guarnatee on an xbox360 thats been sent back is only one month!! i know people here have managed to get a free out of guarantee replacement..is there any magic formula to it or just pay the money? Im tempted to buy a cheapo core, at least i know it will have 12 months guarantee on it and i dont have much confidence that any xbox360 m$ send me would be reliable enough to go a year.... thanks :-) -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com | |||

Given the 360 cost £280 you would expect it to last longer than 3 or 4 years so it should be replaced imo (even if no extended warranty was purchased). The fact that it is an electrical gaming device makes no difference. http://money.guardian.co.uk/howtocom...738830,00.html

| microsoft has changed policy this week regarding warranties and repairs. the new deal is this, they will cover postage cost when you send it to them but you still have to pay £85 for repairs and you would get another another 12 months warranty along with it. if you want to give these guys a try here http://www.totalconsolerepair.co.uk/ they will charge you £45 for repairs if you don't want to repair it then you can sell it on ebay for £80-90 and buy brand new one but it doesn't gurantee you it won't break also "the_niner_nation" <the_niner_nation@sf49ers.com> wrote in message news:46161d43$0$16393$88260bb3@free.teranews.com.. . > my second 360 has now got the 3 red lights flashing, and i called > micro$oft to ask for a replacment, but the bastards want to charge me £85 > for it!! > > I am severly pissed off, as I got one since launch that went wrong, got it > replaced and now the replacement has gone wrong, but theyre saying it's > out of it's guarnatee period, as apparently the new guarnatee on an > xbox360 thats been sent back is only one month!! > > i know people here have managed to get a free out of guarantee > replacement..is there any magic formula to it or just pay the money? > > Im tempted to buy a cheapo core, at least i know it will have 12 months > guarantee on it and i dont have much confidence that any xbox360 m$ send > me would be reliable enough to go a year.... > > > thanks :-) > > > -- > Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com > | |||

Mine is a release day console that packed up last weekend. MS want 80 quid to repair it so I'm currently chasing the retailer shouting the sale of goods act. One thing you may want to try if you used a credit card is to pursue your credit card company for the repair. The credit card act enforces joint liability so they are just as liable to pay for the repair as the retailer is. > Gaz >
