Yeah, yeah, but what the analysts don't understand is that the game market isn't like the home electronics market. People who like Sony and are shopping for a TV will buy a Sony TV more often. That's brand recognition and/or loyalty. People wanting to play games, aren't just going to select the hardware because it's a Sony. They're going to follow the games. The PS1 and PS2 sold well because they had more good games than their competitors (and arguably, they never really HAD any real competition.) Unfortunately even Sony started believing their own hype and started spewing such stupidity like 'PS3 will sell 5 million even with no games.' No. No. No. No. It's about the games. It's always been about the games. Brands and specs don't sell hardware in the video game industry. GAMES sell hardware. > more and better competition = better games. Yes. Unfortunately Sony basically blew it for this generation, and I suspect it's going to be mighty tough for them to come back next time. > so if you are lucky enough to have both consoles, you will be spoilt for > choice. Only if there are truely enough games for the consoles in question. With the developer studios complaining how expensive games are getting to develop, and how they cannot afford to do exclusive titles as much, could we see a generation where there's virtualy NO differences between the libraries on each console? At that point, then the video game market really WOULD begin to look like just another consumer electronic product where things like cost and branding would be deciding factors. -- Win cash and giftcards just for clicking your mouse! http://www.netwinner.com/?signupCode=amuro98 | |||
