| Spoilers: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > The ending of Halo 2 was a complete disappointment, actually the ending was simply dumb. As for the game being short, I'm not what most would consider a hardcore gamer and even I found this game way to short. There was no reason to use some of the weapons(sniper rifle) like in Halo 1. Most levels were not well designed and switching back and forth between the Arbitrator(sp?) and MC just sucked and broke the continuity of the story. | |||

What's so dumb about it? It ends the threat of Tartarus and the rebel Brutes, finishes the war on Delta Halo (which was pretty much what the game was about), and leaves a great buildup for Halo 3 without, in my opinion, being a disappointing cliffhanger. If you want the game to be long, play it on Legendary. Easy and Normal are intentionally short, so you can beat it quick and learn the plot. With most games, casual gamers give up and never find the ending. The levels were far better designed than the cut-and-paste mazes of the first game, and the Arbiter is really cool. The MC is just a mindless soldier who takes orders from anyone. The Arbiter questions authority without being told to.

What's so dumb about it? It was a simply a Boss battle ala Nintendo. It really reminded me of SMB 2. Of course if your not old enough to remember that game then maybe it seemed okay to you. You may have a point here, perhaps they did dumb down the AI, I'll try it on Heroic-as a matter of fact I just did a quick search and you're right it seems they've made each setting a little easier. So Heroic in Halo 2 may actually be closer to what was normal in Halo 1. Also I think your're right in that Halo 2 is just a teaser to buy Halo 3 which I will buy along with the new console :-). The ending still could have better than a boss battle. Maybe it was a homage to old school games. I hope I didn't come across as implying Halo is crap it's not. I mean disappointing Halo is still way better than most games out there.

They needed to have more enemies, so it wasn't just like a one-on-one fight in what seemed suspiciously like a circular arena, despite having three levels and a grav-lift. > It ends the threat of Tartarus >> and the rebel Brutes, finishes the war on Delta Halo (which was pretty > much >> what the game was about), and leaves a great buildup for Halo 3 without, > in >> my opinion, being a disappointing cliffhanger. Now the earth is under siege by the Covenant, now it's flaming and crackling with nuclear explosions, now the war is really about to begin, which everyone thought would be happening at the beginning. If you ask me, Halo 3 is what everyone thought Halo 2 would be.

Tartarus is dead, but we have no indication that the Brute rebellion is over. The war on Delta Halo isn't really over since the flood seem to have taken control of it and many of the ships in the vicinity.

Anyone who says Halo 2 is shorter than 1 is either full of **** or they don't have a very good memory of beating Halo 1. Halo 2 is *significantly* larger (and not as boring or repetative, either). -Eric

So Heroic in Halo 2 may > actually be closer to what was normal in Halo 1. > > Also I think your're right in that Halo 2 is just a teaser to buy Halo 3 Agreed. When completing the game, I was left with a feeling of being ripped off by some Microsoft executive that ordered the folks at Bungie to alter the game they promised us and publish a completely different game altogether. As others have pointed out, we were made to believe that H2's story would be set on earth, but it's basically a remake of H1's story. The storyline itself seems to have been a compromise between Bungie's school of multi-levelled and intricate plots on the one hand, and Microsoft's wish to sell a mainstream action FPS on the other. Too many loose ends and easy solutions - for instance, I can't remember that we were told how the Covenant located earth in the first place, or if this issue was even raised by the human characters. I guess if Bungie was free to produce the game without Microsoft interference, MC would probably have found some ancient technology that enabled him to travel back in time and discover the origin of the ring structures, but I believe H3 will be just another adrenaline rush without the epic proportions that Bungie certainly put into the Marathon saga. Of course I'll get it, but I may just download it from the web - I paid for quite a different game when buying H2. > which I will buy along with the new console :-). The ending still could > have better than a boss battle. Maybe it was a homage to old school games. > I hope I didn't come across as implying Halo is crap it's not. That's why I'm playing the last chapter on Legendary now, to see if the end credits really say anything about something happening on November 9th. Lord knows they didn't on Normal. If anything, I guess that's when Bungies contract with Microsoft expires and they can make the genuine version of H2 as they want to - for the Mac, of course Thomas

I was under the impression that this was in the book that describes the period of time right after Halo: CE. I'e also heard that it answers how Johnson got off the original ring.
