| I know that there's a Wavebird controller for Gamecube worth getting, but I don't know about Xbox. Look it up online. | My understanding is that Microsoft will not warranty the X-Box if you use a wireless controller. I doubt that would really stop (change mind) anyone.... I thought MS was suppose to come out with their own wireless controller. I also heard the Logitech works well. Why would they do that? It's not a case-cracker, or any kind of hardware/software mod... it's a 3rd party accessory! -- ----------- Deep Thought ----------- Erase the Earth to e-mail me. | |||

| If Microsoft produces their own wireless controllers, they have absolutely nothing to lose by letting people use them. In fact they gain from it because they get the money for the controllers. But if someone else produces the controllers, I can see why they'd do that. | Microsoft quit making controllers mid-year, 2003. -- Chris H. I know I'll get a few chuckles for this, but in all seriousness, this is a very monopolistic thing to do. Plugging a non-MS plug in the controller slot does NO damage, and shouldn't influence warranty at all. It's like a car dealer saying "If you use a non-Honda floor mat, you void all warranty or complimentary service". It's a part of the actual machine that shouldn't, in an ideal circumstance, affect the machine's warranted parts at all. If Microsoft wanted to merely latch ahold of the 1st party accessory market, why not make that voiding the de facto ruling for ANY accessory, from non-MS power strip to a non-MS TV. They'd really clean up. Is there any damage that a 3rd party controller could do to the workings of a game console (besides hurt sales of 1st party controllers)? -- ----------- Deep Thought ----------- Erase the Earth to e-mail me. | |||

| You said it. It hurts the sales of 1st party controllers. There's certainly no damage it could do to the other machines, but Microsoft probably wants to sell their own controllers rather than having people use those of other companies. I agree that this is a little extreme, though.
