Default PC halo + networks

Hi,

I'm havin a bit of trouble getting a network game by direct ip to
connecet.

My network is internet comming through a modem plugged into a server
pc which is sharing it accross the 4 computers in our house (student)
via a switch. Me friend who lives in a diff house has the same sort
of setup.

What we want to do is creat a network game with me and a couple of
friends in his house.

I thought he'd just start a LAN game and i'd join by direct IP
connection.

However, when u create a game the ip address always comes up as
192.168. etc which is obviously not the proper external ip. The ones
from the internet connection are like 213.xxx.xx.xxx. Tried putting
thoses type ones into the joinin game but still wont connect(obviously
his ip when i'm joining to his game).

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Any help would be much
appreciated.

Thanks, Jon

To enable connection to someone behind a router (whether it be a
dedicated box or just someone's PC), you need port forwarding. Have a
look at this:

I should say that you really must only forward the ports you need -
hackers love open ports. Keep 'em to a minimum, and disable them when
you're not using them.
