| I think that after all the hype from the X-Box crowd, it could not help but be overrated. Halo is GREAT for a little green and black box with a couple of buttons operating it, but to PC users with 102 buttons on a keyboard and 2 buttons and a wheel on the mouse, there wernt enough features to please. The lack of a secondary fire button , and inability to carry more than two weapons and 4 grenades made it a little less than what was expected. Also, it was easily beatable. I beat it in about 4 hours, But i am a pretty good gamer and it was on the easiest setting. I think overall on a scale of 1-10 it should get a 7. Multiplayer has some issues too. Note to tim: dont put your actual email addy on these newsgroups because Spammers gather email addresses from newsgroups. | A bit late for that warning now. He is now in Viagara heaven/hell while signing up for the latest University course in home consolidation loans. Probably. I hadn't played the Xbox version but obviously heard Halo being hyped to the max by Xbox gamers over the last few years. I bought the full PC game a few days ago, and quite honestly, what is the fuss all about? It seems Xbox owners are seriously starved of quality games, because PC Halo is just another dime-a-dozen first person shooter. A couple of issues in particular; Level design...what the hell? Once you've seen the corridor style for a particular level, you've seen 90% of the level. Also, the majority of rooms serve no purpose at all (no command rooms, barracks, that type of stuff) other than an excuse to have shootouts in. In order to get the game looking impressive, performance is atrocious. In order to get a playable framerate, visuals are atrocious (particularly texture quality and screen resolution). Er, Houston, we have a problem here. A playable framerate is obviously what I went for, and seriously, even 5 year old Half-Life looks more impressive on my rig (P4 2.4ghz, 1gig ram, 256mb Fx5900). The console roots are apparent...all fighting takes place on ground level. From what I saw (I gave up after the appalling Library level), Halo is very repetitous. I remember the first time I played Half-Life, seeing and experiencing something different around every corner. Halo has none of that. Basically, I was seriously unimpressed. If anyone else hasn't ever played the Xbox version, I'd highly recommend not just going out and buying it on reputation like I did, but playing the Halo PC demo first. | |||

The inability to carry more than two weapons is actually a feature and do believe you can carry 8 gernades four of each kind.. | |||

| ah, 8 grenades. thats still not enough for me... How is the 2 weapon thing a feature?( just wondering) I know that it makes it more realistic, but I just like a little LESS realism, i LIKE to be able to justm 10 feet high and bounce off of walls and carry a BFG that is bigger than i am. Thats all. | I agree completely, Jim!! the library level WAS HORRIBLE and it was exactly the same. the covenant ship was the SAME EVERYWHERE. You must have read my mind before you posted...
