| I have a strange problem with my live connection. At the moment I can only host games or get invited to them. I cannot download content or search for a quik or optimatch. When I try to do any of these things it searches for about 5 minutes and then kicks me offline. I have been using live for about 6 months now with no issues to this point. I am directly connected to my modem. I have called tech support and they have never heard of this and really weren't much help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks | |||

See if that helps. I have noticed that content downloads are slow to start on my xbox, but never have a connection failure. This might be a local network glitch, temporary. Q

Do you have any more suggestions that I should try? Nate

If you don't see any connection issues with a computer, then the problem lies either with your xbox or your ISP. Is Cox the cable company who in the last few days tried and failed to download a modem update and killed modems? I think it was. You might check with your local cable office and ask the question. Also, check the cat5 patch cable. These start to fail and connection speed decreases markedly. If you know the URL of your modem's property page, post back the signal levels. You physical cable connection might be on the edge of low signal or high noise. You can try http://192.168.100.1/ which works for many modems. Q
