Mine works just fine, and on the initial setup through a wired computer, I was able to configure WEP just fine. The problem is that once it is set up in a Profile to contain the initial setup parameters, it is impossible for me to get back to simply change the wireless channel by any means whatsoever (including a hard reset). It is another of Linksys failures in device configurations. Mine is the WGA11B. My son has the Microsoft adapter, and it is a joy to configure. Q | |||

| Hi Percy (percyg77NOSPAM@sbcglobal.net), in the newsgroups you posted: || Think about get either a Linksys Game Adapter or an Xbox Wireless LAN || Adapter. Anyone use either of these in their current setup? || Satisfied with it? I am using the Xbox Wireless Adapter MN-740 and find it to be great! Setup was flawless and so is my online gaming. In fact, I will have a review of it posted tomorrow on Activewin.com hopefully early. -- Brian Kvalheim Microsoft Office Publisher MVP Official Publisher MVP Site: http://www.kvalheim.org This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | |||

| I've got a Linksys wireless G network up and running at home, and tried to add the Linksys wireless G game adapter (WGA54G), but had an absolute configuration nightmare trying to get it set up. After several long calls to Linksys support, I still couldn't get it to work with my network, so I took it back to the store and went with the Microsoft wireless adapter instead. I've had no problems with it at all. You might have better luck than I did, but I'd recommend the Microsoft adapter over a Linksys one. | Ditto with the configuration nightmare that this blasted adapter brings about. Why on earth they chose to go with a stupid setup program that runs off your computer instead of using a browser based configuration like their routers is beyond me. I have found that support for LinkSYS products -- at least with this one is absolutely abysmal - especially since they were bought up by Cisco. I have been through 4 technicians in their support group -- each one acknowledging that there is a problem with the adapter - built no one giving me a time line for a resolution - no beta code allowed here! (I am unable to secure my network with WEP at the moment despite going through their setup program - and once I do enable WEP I can't take control of the adapter without doing a full reset) This problem has been going on now since November - and from their last email my issue has been raised with HQ -- whatever that means. I have had few problems before in the past with LinkSYS products. Their routers have been rock solid. However this product I feel should not have been released to the market in it's present configuration. I wish I had just waited longer to purchase the MS one instead. The adapter does work (re LinkSYS one) my issue is in not being able to secure my network properly to what I am accustomed to. -- Nick Wilson nfwilson@hotmail.com.No.SPAM "Quaoar" <quaoar@tenthplanet.net> wrote in message news 3WqWRY8DHA.2044@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl...> Percy wrote: > > Think about get either a Linksys Game Adapter or an Xbox Wireless LAN > > Adapter.
