| Hello all, I have been using the Linksys BEFSR41 Cable router for a while with no issue at all when my PC's or connected to XBOX Live. I decided to go wireless on my laptops and bought the Linksys WRT546 Wireless G Cable router with 4 port switch. My PC's and laptops all work fine. My PC's that are connected via ports can surf the web fine and download. I then attached my XBOX. Once i turned it on I received an error that it could not log onto the Xbox Live Service. I went into my settings for xbox live and tried to connect. I received the following: O Cables connected ok O IP settings configured ok O DNS resolved ok X Xbox Live not found The I get an error message stating the following "Could Not Connect To Xbox Live"...It goes on to give some suggestions about MTU and checking the compatibility list. If I go directly from my cable modem to the XBOX everything works fine. Is there any setting in the Linksys that could be causing this? I have set it back to default settings with no luck. I never had any issue with the standard wired cable router so i'm not to sure what could be causing this. Thanks so much for the help guys. Regards, Oscar | |||

| The Xbox is connected via Ethernet Cabe to the switch portion of the Wireless router so it's not running wireless. oscarc619@yahoo.com (Oscar) wrote in message news:<349459de.0309161005.7bcef6c6@posting.google. com>... > Hello all, > > I have been using the Linksys BEFSR41 Cable router for a while > with no issue at all when my PC's or connected to XBOX Live. | In that case it should work fine. Soem Linksys routers detect the required ports using PNP. OTherwise make sure the required ports are open. If you are getting dropped, it may be your isp and you should contact them. Could always try pingign one of the MS servers to see if there are unexpected time out's. You don't say whether you are running the Xbox wirelessly with a bridge or with ethernet. I can't check my settings right now and I did have the same issue as you when I set up so when I get home this evening I will list the settings I have and hopefully these will work for you. Kind Regards Andy B | |||

| I'll take a look this evening Oscar as I have exactly the same set up and mine works. Though I did have the same issue initially. It is probably port forwarding issues or IP addresses not specfied correctly. My PC runs wirelessly and my Xbox is connected with ethernet cable. You may have the IP address to gather automatically. As you read on you will see I have set mine manually. My PC IP address for the router is 192.168.1.100. The MAC address of my modem under the System tab in router settings, I have Mac cloning enabled and set to my modem MAC address. I have set the Xbox to IP address 192.168.1.102. In Xbox Live settings I have set the configuration of IP addresses to manual. The IP address as stated is set to 192.168.1.102, Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and Gateway to 192.168.1.1. In advanced I have set the host name and the MAC address to my Xbox MAC address. I am not so sure the last two are needed but I have set them anyway. DNS Servers are set to automatic and PPOE setting is set to off. Port forwarding - This can be accessed in your router advanced settings. You need to forward UDP on Port 88 and both UDP and TCP on port 3074 with IP address 192.168.1.102 That's it and it works for me. Give it a go and let me know if it works Kind Regards Andy B | |||
