Default Going wireless with consoles.

I'm planning on going wireless soon with the Linksys BEFW11S4. Can I just
plug the Ethernet cable from my XBox, Gamecube, and PS2 into a 4-port
switch, then plug the switch into a wireless access point or Linksys'
WGA11B?

Should work just fine. do u expect to be using all three
systems (or any two) simultaniously? that might cause
some havoc in terms of the packets, and will bring down
the bandwith of each connection between the cable
modem/base-station and each console. But as i suspect you
wont generally be gaming online w\ more than 1 system at
a time, u should be fine.. and your setup will bypass the
annoying step of having to unplug and replug each system
into the wireless bridge.

Have u used yr PS2 for online gaming yet? can u comment
on the overall experience?

thanks in adavance,
CMM.

The BEFW11S4 has a built in switch so you can connect your consoles directly
to it. However if you had something else in mind then yes you can uplink to
another switch. I presume that the wireless if for the benefit of some other
kit and not the consoles? If you intend to use the consoles over the
wireless connection consider the Linksys WET11 bridge. Two can be used as a
bridge in a ad-hoc configuration or one can be used in infrastructure mode
to talk to the BEFW11S4 access point. The consoles just needs a patch lead
from its RJ45 to the WET11 and your away.

Hope that helped.

They havewireless points that conenct from the Xbox and send directly, jsut
need an outlet near by. However you would need a wirless access point by the
consoles to send from there to the main router. Then you won't need seprate
transmiters.

There is packet loss with Wifi. It's not the best solution for gaming. Some
times it will be fine, but in large games you may see sparatic lag, more
then normal.

Generally Wifi is more for Mobiel devices. Be sure the encrytion is off to
avoid issues with Live 2.0
