| Hey all Im planning a gaming meet with some of my friends and plan to use xbox 360's and system link. The topography will be 8 systems split into two seperate rooms. One of my friends has an 8 port hub which I know will work .. but that means quite a bit of long network cable. Heres my questions .... Is there a way if I took my router (the WRT54G) and used that to build the LAN. Then those who had the wifi connector would not need any cables ... thus limiting the mess and hassle. Thanks | |||

Those with WiFi just need your router's SSID and WPA key, and it should issue them with a LAN IP address each, so they will see each other. The router doesn't need a connection to the internet to do this. Those who need a wired connection could connect to one of the 4 LAN ports on the router, or if there's more than 4, just plug the 8-port hub into one of the LAN ports and use that. As long as each Xbox has an IP address issued by the router, the system link should work. You might want to plug a PC into the router so you can bring up the admin pages if you need to check the DCHP settings for example.

Hopefuly there will 4 with wifi and 4 with out As it won't be connected to the net ... there will be no need for WEP/WPA to make things tricky Cheers

Unless you're suggesting disabling it as you won't be online, in which case this is a good idea. -- Zo
