The US porn industry has taken HD-DVD as it's format of choice, that's a big
market so blu-ray is as good as sunk.

But they make money from the media and technology licensing. So in that
sense they will benefit, but I'd imagine the loss of PS3 sales will
hurt them more than the licensing fees will make up for.

Just a forum rumour though?

If MS release a blu-ray add on then that is in effect admitting that HD-DVD
failed. Its too early to admit any kind of defeat as the war has barely
started.
