No. The Wii can only read photos stored on SD memory cards.

The Wii's disc drive, although DVD-based, only works with Wii and GameCube
disks. It cannot read CDs or DVDs, whether pressed or burned.

Interestingly enough there is one web page that is announcing the DVD
playing functionality will be available in the later part of 2007 to the
Japanese, although this will be only for the Japanese market.
