An expansion to a fighting game?? : P So should I just skip the first 2 and
buy THAT one, or will either of them have anything to offer? Or in other
words, has each sequel just been an evolutionary upgrade, basically the same
game as last time, except with some new characters and features?

Its all evolutionary.. though between X and XX, there's been some
changes to some move timing and character rebalancing. I don't really
know what's the difference between XX and XX:Reload.
