socom, not online, good or bad

I am thinking of getting Socom US Navy seals, but I'm not going to play
online as I don't have broadband. Do you think it's worth getting just for
the 1 player game?

If you are only going to get it for single player and have no plans to now,
or in the future go online with it then I would reccomend buying it used or
something and likely without the headset. You can use the headset during a
single player game, but its main and best use comes when playing online.
The single player is a pretty good game, from what I have read SOCOM 2 will
have a much better single player mode then the first...not to mention a
vastly improved online experience.

Anyway I would go used with this if not going online, and skip the headset.
The single player part of the game is maybe a 7 out of 10 game...the online
part is around 9.5 and the biggest reason to own the game.

I just bought socom about 5 months ago, and for the first month all I did
was play online. I sucked at it so bad that I was getting voted off teams.
So I played 1 player so I could get some skills, But I cant seem to get into
the single player mode. Its just not as fun. I say don't buy it wait for
Socom2. Socom is a old game, should be a greatest hit soon.

i don't think it's gonna make it to the greatest hits because the servers
won't be up when socom2 comes out, so that kinda defeats the purpose of
buying it.

From what the developers (Zipper) said in the OPM (Official Playstation
Magazine) article the servers will remain up after SOCOM 2 is released.
Exactly how long that holds true is another story, but there are no plans to
suddenly yank the servers for it once the new version comes out...

I've got splinter cell and MGS sons of Lib.... they are very cool games, but
Socom looks amazing as well.

When dose Socom 2 come out in the UK and do you have to pay to go online
with it?
I'm hoping to use PS2 Online in the future when we get Broadband we need 198
more people :-(.

IMO, SOCOM's single player mode exists to get used to the controls to play
online. I've had the game since August, I play it all the time, but I've
only ever made it to level 3 single player (and I only played that mode when
online was unavailable).
