News.com (CNET) also points out that by the time they actually get the G5 to market in reasonable numbers, Intel or AMD may have taken the ol' speed title back again, or at least the price/performance title. Most Mac common taters that I have read, are taking this announcement with 2^(n!-1) grains o' salt, wherein n approacheth infinity, and beyond.

Why not just save the money and buy a PC? I mean, Adobe left Mac for PC as their primary dev target. That should be a sign to the tards.

When will people learn that form-over-function is just plain wrong, and not worth extra money? "A floppy drive looks ugly, so let's just remove it".. "Mousebuttons? That would spoil the design of our mice! Let's just make them tiny and awkwardly round shaped. It doesn't matter that it cramps your hands or even causes RSI".. "We don't want those nasty eject buttons on our cd drives, they just don't look good".. They may have been ahead of their time once.. but right now Windows XP is seeing OSX getting smaller in its rearview mirror. -- Remove internal organs to send me spam. But why bother? As far as an OS goes, >their memory management (laughable), multitasking (laughable), etc, was >prehistoric up until OSX, and that's just because they dropped the silly >MacOS and got a real OS kernel to work from. That's true.. but back when Windows was still 16 bit with some patched up 32 bit elements (Win 3.11) Macintosh had an advantage - softwarewise - because a lot of multimedia development applications were developed primarily for the Mac. I'm thinking of Macromedia Director, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, After FX and the like. I remember I always had to wait much longer for Windows versions than my Mac colleagues.. Ofcourse.. when the Windows versions came out I wiped their asses with raw MHz power because Macs have always had a speed disadvantage. Even if they weren't significantly slower (benchmarks don't mean much to me, the real world does) they certainly felt slower when working with them. And now.. well.. whatever.. OsX may be more solid behind the scenes.. but it's a drag to work with. Give me OS9.x any day because this new Barbie and Ken GUI is simply an infuriatingly bad travesty from an ergonomic point of view. I keep losing my windows behind others without a start-bar to keep track of them, I miss the Finder and that Genie-in-a-bottle-animation when you close a window is G.A.Y. -- Remove internal organs to send me spam. | Uh... Windows 98? If you're still using Windows 98 you shouldn't even be in this discussion. Upgrade to XP... Let's see.. 2003 - 1998 = 5 Why are you discussing 5 year old technology on the windows platform with OSX? My windows XP starts up in 20 seconds. And my willy is heftier than yours :-) >By the way, I love all the people that yell "function before form" in >regards to the Mac/PC thing, only to hop in their Mustang and drive >away....Function before form, huh? :-) I don't know.. I very much dislike American cars because they can only go in straight lines. I'd pick italian cars over american cars any day. They look better, handle better and corner better and have more style in general. Alfa Romeo baby, driving is not about dragstrips. -- Remove internal organs to send me spam. But why bother?
