computer problem .

hello ive been trying to fix my computer . and what happens that it it just swicthes off just out of the blue , and restarts , i havent figured it out yet , but the ram is fine i kno that , its only got one stick of ddr2 ram and processor is new and the mother bored ., and a sata hard disk , and everythink is about a week old and i cant fingure out wots the problem with it , but i only have one idear which i have tryed , its my grahpic card driver , because that can course that sort of thing but i have tryed loads of drivers , but still nothink , any one kno ?

when u say switches off out the blue do you means software shutdown or hard shut down, IE power stright off, if the lattter chances are you might not have a powerfull enough PSU or it is faulty.

screen goes black then starts up .

Like whatcha says, what does it do when it switches off?

also how long aprox has the pc been on?

do you get to use it for a while or does it just go off before you get chance?

sometimes both, you never know when it will happen.

OK, I have had a problem like this before with a system I did, and what I did is turned the heat sink around and it solved the problem, what it sounds like is that your CPU is over heating and the bios is doing an outa cut off to be safe, but it would boot back up.

Have you over clacked it in any way?

Also what processor do you have?

this idea of mine may not be correct, but really worth trying

thats exactly wot i thought , but the computer systems should turn off, and stay off i never knewn it to restart like it dose ,. but i will try it... but also if the processor fan is not on probaly the computer will not start up . with most modden processors . but i have a amd processor init , but when the system starts up again it comes up with an microsoft error report .

Amd CPU's will start back up not all systems do this depends on what Bios it has, what is the Microsoft error msg?

cant remember but i will send it next time it comes up . but it says i think unkown device ,,, that why i thought it was my graphic card driver ,

I would put my money on a power supply issue, or as MadKad says a overheating CPU. My last system didnt like it when i used to install my USB modem. It drawn too much power from the system and reset it.

In you have a 300 or 350watt PSU are have a lot connected to it it may be the culprit
